Key Responsibilities:

• Emergency Response: Respond to emergency calls and provide prompt, effective assistance to patients experiencing medical emergencies, trauma, or accidents.
• Patient Assessment: Conduct initial assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, and provide appropriate care using established protocols.
• Basic Life Support: Perform essential life-saving techniques, such as CPR, airway management, and hemorrhage control, in line with JRCalc.
• Patient Transport: Safely transport patients to hospitals or other care facilities, ensuring continuous monitoring and care during transit. Assist paramedics or other healthcare professionals during patient handover.
• Documentation: Accurately document all patient interactions, treatments administered, and observations made during care. Ensure compliance with legal and medical documentation requirements.
• Equipment Management: Inspect, maintain, and restock medical equipment and supplies to ensure readiness for emergencies. Clean and prepare the ambulance after each call.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with paramedics, emergency services personnel, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
• Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, providing clear and concise information about the patient's condition and care provided.
• Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols, to protect yourself, patients, and colleagues.

• Education: Completion of an approved Ambulance Technician training program or equivalent.
• Certification: Valid IHCD Ambulance Technician qualification or equivalent, and a Blue light certificate.
• Experience: Previous experience working as an ambulance technician or in a similar role within the NHS or a private ambulance service is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of pre-hospital care procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to assess and manage a wide range of medical and trauma situations.
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Additional Requirements:
  • Driving License: A valid B driving license is required, with a clean driving record. C1 preferable.
  • Insurance: Professional indemnity insurance is required to operate as a self-employed technician.
  • Background Check: You will be subject to a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check as part of the contracting process.
  • Health and Fitness: Must meet the necessary health and fitness requirements to perform the role safely and effectively.

• Work Environment: Work involves responding to emergencies in various environments, including homes, public spaces, road traffic accidents, and more.
• The role requires working irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the assignment.
• Exposure to stressful and potentially hazardous situations is common, requiring a high level of resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Compensation: Payment is typically on a per-call or per-contract basis. Rates may vary based on the nature of the assignment, location, and level of experience.
